DOH ISSUES RED PLACARD TO GOLDEN COIN BAKE SHOP IN HONOLULU

26-138

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 8, 2026

HONOLULU — The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch (FSB) issued a red placard and immediately shut down Golden Coin Bake Shop, located at 1814 Colburn St. in Honolulu.

The food establishment, operated by GU Industrial & Business Corporation, received the red placard on Oct. 7, 2026 and must remain closed until DOH conducts a follow-up inspection and all violations are resolved.

The violations include:

  • Refrigeration not holding time/temperature control for safety (TCS) foods at or below 41 F as required.
  • Food packages were not in good condition to protect the integrity of the contents from potential contaminants.
  • Food contact equipment was not being cleaned at the required frequency.
  • Hot water was not available for proper ware washing.

DOH is requiring the food establishment to take the following corrective actions before it can reopen:

  • Establishment must ensure that all TCS foods are kept at 41 F or below.
  • Remove and replace any compromised packaging and ensure that all food packages are in good condition.
  • Clean and sanitize all food contact equipment at the required frequency.
  • Restore and maintain an adequate supply of hot water at temperatures greater than 110 F to facilitate proper ware washing.

The next follow-up inspection is scheduled for Oct. 9, 2026.

The DOH FSB protects and promotes the health of Hawai‘i residents and visitors through education of food industry workers and regulation of food establishments statewide. The branch conducts routine health inspections of food establishments where food products are prepared, manufactured, distributed, or sold.
